Police make arrests in scrap metal thefts
Athens-Clarke police arrested two people for stealing scrap metal from car repair shops after the owner of Five Star Tire and Automotive, 605 Macon Highway, reported seeing them steal parts from behind his business about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a report.
A security video showed the couple stealing brake rotors and radiators from a scrap metal trash bin. The owner gave police a description of the suspects’ car, which officers stopped along Will Hunter Road, police said.
