This video from Engineering Explained shows how hot the rotors, pads and calipers get when the brakes are applied using a thermal camera. The highest temperatures were recorded at where the leading edge of the brake pad where it makes contact with the rotor. This video also catches what rotor runout and disc thickness looks like.
