Brake Failure Sends Car Into Building, Injures 2

Brake failure was allegedly the reason for the driver of a white Dodge Stratus to run a stop sign while traveling east in Jamestown last night. After the driver ran the stop sign, she immediately blind-sided a blue Ford Fusion, causing the Ford to lose control and slam into the side of a hair salon.

“We’ve got some serious injuries here,” said Capt. Todd Isaacson of the Jamestown Police Department. He noted that it was yet to be determined whether the car had experienced brake failure, but he did state that the car was being hauled to the impound for a full inspection.

A witness said the female driver could be heard repeating, “I couldn’t stop,” as she was being pulled from the vehicle.

“Utterances like that usually indicate brake failure,” Isaacson said. “Charges will align after further investigation of inspection.”

Isaacson said inadequate brakes are a misdemeanor in New York state, and driving through the stop sign will result in a ticket for failure to yield, regardless of other charges.

The two parties involved were transferred to the local hospital for treatment and are said to be in stable condition. Nobody was hurt at the hair salon.
