This is a case of corrosion getting between the backing plate and friction material when only glue is used. This delamination case caused the front brakes to lose 25% of the friction surface area. Mechanical attachment and galvanization could have prevented this safety issue. Also, the customer would have had the brake last 25,000 miles instead or 10,000 miles.
